Harvesting Blessings

I have noticed the leaves on the trees are ever so slightly turning color. That is the announcement that Fall is around the bend. I really love the Fall and all it's splendor. When I was a young boy I would lie down in the tall grass and watch the clouds passing by. And the beautiful leaves moving on to where ever they were carried by the wind. The cool wind would cause me to burrow deeper into the grass and wonder and dream of heroic things. Oh youth with it's elastic heart and poor memory of defeat, the dreams would always carry the day.

Fall on the farm means it's harvest time. Laying in all the needs of the animals for the Winter. It's a good feeling when everything is done and bins and barn are full. It's a time for counting your blessing and giving thanks. Here is another poem I came across, all is well down on the farm.

Rampaging Old Farmer

Have you ever descended a very steep hill,
Oh my! What a joyous and speedy thrill.
Downward, downward, faster, faster, you run,
Joy, Oh joy, Oh joy, this is such great fun.
Eyes look forward upon the ground, they never flicker,
Faster, faster, you run, carried onward by a pleasing snicker.
If they could see me now,
Unbelievable speed from this old cow.
The bottom looms ahead, but oh my horrible fate,
I just now remembered I forgot to open the gate.

Softly the Winds

The winds that blow so seldom seen,
Across the valley shining green.
I long for peace in troubled times,
Softly the winds gently chimes.
Come to me and we will see,
If it is ever to be, you or me.
That stands before the coming storm,
That pierces the veil and sounds the horn.
If you, then peace you will have, Oh quiet one,
Stand tall, stand strong and battle till the dawn.
I see your heart and see the soul,
And I know what makes the thunders roll.
Are you able to stand with me, Oh quiet one,
Are you able to whisper to me when we are done.
Oh wind I know you by your scented breath,
And when you mounted your mighty force of death.
I will survive your stormy gale until the end,
I will stand strong before you, I will never bend.
Oh quiet one your heart is true, your will is strong,
And I offer to you this gentle and peaceful song.
A peaceful song, the breath of victory the battle is done,
Softly the winds will sing, that you have won.

Part of My Last Post

I came across this poem, and I was going to put it in my last post, but I forgot. So better late than never.
Nights Meadow
The mist of the clear moon night,
Cotton layers, quiet, still in flight.
Shrouded streamers thru trees unseen,
Silver lances, braided with unsung green.

The night, soft, tender, glazing unreal,
Darkness taunted with moonlight appeal.
Star light fire, sparkling, crystal clear,
Homeless comets flying ever so near.

My troubled soul, memories bring,
Homeward bound on silver wing.
The meadow is home, my place of rest,
Night time portrait at its very best.

Where Has The Summer Gone

Time seems to slip through our fingers all to quickly. The last time I wrote in my blog was April 14Th. My oh my where has the Summer gone. My wife and I have had some wonderful quite evenings on the deck. Cool breezes and clear sky's. Watching the first of the stars coming out. These are special times sitting there and saying not a word. Just drinking in the silence and enjoying one an other. Sometimes you don't have to say a thing to say a lot. I really feel for those who don't have the time or take the time just to listen. After a long day on the farm, its great to sit there and relax. I seem to be more in tune with whats around this year. Not sure why, but nature has been busy and entertaining. I feel blessed for the times and wonders I have seen.

My wife and I started taking a juice made from the Acai berry that is found in the Amazon Forest. It has done both of us a lot of good. My wife has quit taking pain pills for her arthritis, and I have a lot more energy. This Acai berry(pronounced AH-sigh-EE) is mixed with eighteen other fruit juices. Its got a real health punch. If you would like to learn more go to this site.
Well I guess I had better go. I am thankful that all is well down on the farm.
