Friendships Over Time

I got a call the other day from a Friend I have not seen in twenty seven years. There seems to be something magical about friendship and time. There voice floods the mind with good memories and good times. And time just evaporates away into yesterday. True friendship is a very special treasure like gold. It does not wear out and gets more valuable with time. Friendship is not bound by time or space it is an essence of itself. It is an invisible bond that creates joy and solid footing in life. I think it is one strength that helped to found this great country of ours. When men get together and write down words like, "we mutually pledge to each other our Lives, our Fortunes and our sacred Honor", They are bonded together in a way that few of us ever get to experience. Its not to say we do not get close, like my friend that called the other day. We do edge towards it, but never obtain it like those that come before us. I believe those in the military do experience it in a greater degree. With all the different levels of friendship I can not help but to think of those who do not have friends. Those who never get a call or a letter or anything from some one. I can not even begin to think of the loneliness they must feel. That has to be a horrible, horrible feeling. Even in a marriage for it to succeed a man and woman must be friends, the best of friends. The kind of friendship where you have more concerns for the other ones needs than you do your own. And they reciprocate, it is an upward spiral. The opposite creates a downward spiral till they hit bottom. If you have a friend you have not seen in a while, give them a call or go visit. It is well worth the time to feel that joy again. We must remember that life is very short and we need to take advantage of the moments. All is well down on the farm.
