Planting Time

Spring is moving right along. Thunder storm have been passing through leaving its nitrogen behind. They say a good thunder storm can add as much as six lbs of nitrogen per acre. Flowers are starting to peek through the ground. I noticed the lilacs buds are starting to swell, ready to explode. There is something that happens to a farmer at Spring time. We just have a great desire to put seeds into the ground. I love watching the little plants emerge through the ground. Every morning I make my rounds to check on the little guys. What a great time. Check our farm web site out. All is well down on the farm.

Unseen Changes

As Spring gets closer there seems to be things happening that we don't see. Even the animals sense something. The underlining power that starts to flex its muscles causes large and small to follow the routines of the ages. Even we, the smart ones, our caught up in the excitement and tend to follow well used paths of those who came before us. It is a longing for change, or maybe the need to grow. What ever it is I love it and feel blessed to be a part of it. Spring on the farm is a master piece of ingenuity and design. If pictures make you feel good, go to our farm website. All is well down on the farm.

Feel Spring In The Air

Down on the farm you can feel spring in the air. The wind still has a chill in it but none the less spring is there. It's time for the maple trees to be tapped for their sweet sap which we turn into maple syrup. It's a fun time, but busy with lots of hard work. When you work shoulder to shoulder with friends and family the time passes all to quickly. It's also a time to pass along the knowledge of years to the younger generation. I enjoy sharing my knowledge of making maple syrup with my grandson, knowing one day he will probably replace me and that's a good thing. All is well down on the farm.
